Wellness With Horses
2024 Veterans Horsemanship Program
What you need to know

Who:
Primary participants are veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. Additional participants may include veteran family members and/or support system as space allows.
Due to a generous community grant, we have a number of spaces reserved for veterans in the Magnolia/Tomball/Klein/Waller and surrounding areas who have experienced negative impacts as a result of their service. Participation is not limited to those that meet these criteria.
What:
A foundational horsemanship course based on mutually beneficial horse-human interactions and rooted in communication, understanding, and trust. Participants learn about horses and what they need from us in a partnership, as well as handling, care, and ground skills. All activities are unmounted (no riding).
Where:
We operate at a private facility in Magnolia, Texas. Detailed directions will be given at time of registration.
When:
New classes will be available each quarter. Participants opt for one of two options:
A - Weekly lessons for 8 weeks that last up 60-75 minutes or
B - 3-4 "intensive" lessons that cover the same content in 2-2.5-hour lessons.
We highly recommend the 8-week course whenever possible to maximize your benefit from the program.
Why:
Learning with and about horses in this distinct manner is not only enjoyable and interesting, but also facilitates many opportunities for improved personal wellbeing. Prior participants have reported the following:
-
"I slept better and had less anxiety after my time with Ruby."
-
"I feel accomplished, confident, and more self-aware."
-
"It has helped me communicate better in my civilian life."
Spending time in connection with horses and in nature has many proven physical, mental, and emotional benefits. See for yourself what's possible.
